I understand why MS wants the internet connection, but give me an option to disable/proceed. I'm not using wifi and I didn't think to disable onboard WLAN prior to installing 11, but I had to open command prompt, run a command and then restart the install process. I built a new PC and the network cable was unplugged, but this motherboard had wireless built in. Requiring internet access to install an OS is dumb, with windows 10 you just unplug the network cable, but if you have wireless enabled on a laptop, you could add a few clicks to your process and bypass the internet requirement. There is not much more to say about the legacy vs modern settings that hasn't been stated already. The start menu being a huge box is dumb (I removed all the pre-added icons and it is just a big, worthless box for me). The windows 11 taskbar being centered by default is dumb. Microsoft keeps changing things for the worse.

Great post, I will only comment on windows since that is what I primary deal with in a business environment and when I'm updating my own Windows computers at home. They do stuff like having multiple places where system settings can be and the UI looks modern in some places and retro in others.

Microsoft is ridiculous because they seem to go out of there way to make user experience and such actually harder and worse.
